Public Schools Recognition Night – April 19

Collins Lodge #19 AF&AM and Fidelity Lodge #192 AF&AM continue a decades-long tradition in recognizing outstanding students, teachers, and programs within the Poudre School District on Thursday, April 19 at 7:00 pm at the Fort Collins Masonic Temple.

The Lodges will honor students from 5th, 8th, and 12th grades who have been selected by their teachers for their traits of citizenship, leadership, scholarship, and general positive character that distinguish them as outstanding.  This recognition continues a 54-year-old tradition of the two Fort Collins Masonic Lodges.

Brethren of Fidelity Lodge #192 and Collins Lodge #19 are requested to arrive early between 3 and 6 pm to help set up, to assist in the final preparations and hosting of our guests from the community.  We expect that over 350 guests will be in attendance.

September Master’s Message

Brethren,

I hope that everyone has had a great summer with their families and friends and is ready for a productive fall season. As we start on our Masonic work in the lodge for the next few months let’s keep in mind the importance of balancing out our lives with equal attention paid to our families, our activities with the lodge as well as our necessary vocations. And, of course, there is football. We will have some degree work coming up, committee work to be done and some issues to be settled with our finances and by-laws. In May a few people expressed some interest in continuing with our Colorado highway clean up project that we have done in the past. Brothers, it’s a lot of work to keep up with that section of I-25 by Wellington but maybe we could combine that activity with a picnic or some other form of refreshment afterward. I will see what we can work out.

During the weekend of September 9th and 10th many of us will be going up to Estes Park for the Highlands Festival. As we did last year, we plan to march in the parade on Saturday morning as a Masonic family as well as man an information booth in the highland games area. This is a wonderful opportunity for some much needed public exposure for our organizations. Please join us.

Looking ahead, we still need to visit our brothers in other lodges in the area, advance our candidates standing on the degrees and work on our history and prepare for the 150th anniversary of Collins #19 which is coming up in 2020. I hope to see you all in lodge. Safe travels!

May Master’s Message

Brethren,

Many thanks to all those who helped out to make the Grand Master’s visit and the Public Schools Recognition Night during April which were both very successful events. The dinner and evening with the Grand Lodge officers and guests was a great time. I want to personally thank Janet and Gary Malara for all their hard work on the fantastic dinner that we all enjoyed.

PSRN always amazes me. It is so nice to see the Temple filled with the outstanding students, their families, and the educators, all of whom greatly appreciate the fact that the Fort Collins Masonic Lodges support this great celebration of education and personal achievement. Seeing all those smiling faces makes it all worthwhile.

For both of these events, we owe a great deal of thanks to our Masonic youth groups for helping out in many ways to make everything come together. Brothers, let us do all we can to support them.

Looking ahead, we have some business to finish up in May before we go dark for the summer. We have started planning for a Fellowcraft degree to be held on Wednesday May 24th with dinner at 6PM and the degree work starting at 7:30. Please join us for this special communication. There are still some important activities taking place during the summer however. Most notably, the Grand Lodge constitutional convention and budget session in August will be very important in determining how our Grand Lodge and local lodges will operate.

I still would like to get some of us together to visit our brothers in other lodges in the area. It could be a lot of fun. One of my favorite memories of being a young warden was visiting the Prince Hall Lodge in Cheyenne, Wyoming. That was amazing! Whatever your plans for the Spring and Summer seasons, I hope to see you all out there on the trails toward further light. Safe travels!

April Master’s Message

Brethren,

April is going to be an exciting month for us here in Fort Collins. We have the honor of having the Grand Master of Masons in Colorado visit our lodges here in town on Thursday evening the 6th. As the invitations sent out in March stated, there will be a dinner at 6PM followed by the open reception of the Grand Master and his entourage at 7PM. This will be a great opportunity to get together and hear from our leaders about the status of our Grand Lodge and their vision of the future of Freemasonry in our state. Please join us in greeting our visitors and showing them the respect and welcome to our community that they deserve.

On the 20th will be the annual Public Schools Recognition Night.

This is always the biggest public event that we do in our community and very well received and appreciated by all the schools, educators and students alike. Again we will be working with our brothers in Fidelity 192 and we will need a lot of help setting everything up and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Lets have a great turnout for this wonderful celebration of education and personal achievement.

As we near the midway point of the Masonic year, it seems to me that there are so many things I would like for us to do as a lodge but I worry that we would not be able to accomplish them all. Please feel free to let me know what you would like to see us work toward for the future.

Take care and lets all be safe in our travels, good representatives of our craft and the best of companions to our brothers in need.

March Master’s Message

Greetings everyone,

As we get closer to the Spring, I hope everyone is doing well and making plans for the warmer weather. During this time of renewal, let us take a look at everything that is important in our lives and renew our commitment to improving ourselves and having a good effect on the lives of those around us through all of our thoughts, words and actions.

At the February annual meeting of the Fort Collins Masonic Temple Association (the Home Board), everyone in the Masonic Family has a lot to think about with respect to the future of our Temple building and the place that our various groups call our home. In the next few weeks the Home Board will be attempting to meet with all the groups in our Masonic Family to let everyone know what is happening with our future.

Preparations continue to develop for the upcoming Public Schools Recognition Night (4/20) and joint visitation of the Grand Master (4/6). Collins 19 enjoyed a visit from our new District Lecturer in February and were reminded of the importance of keeping up with our proficiency in the ritual work we do and making progress in the education and advancement of our members in the valuable morals and lessons of Freemasonry which we have been given. Brothers, attention to these ideals will ensure public and private esteem. With this in mind, we will be working on the Masonic Memorial Service during our meeting on March 15th and I believe that a pizza party before the meeting is planned.

Thank you all again for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you in Lodge.
